About me

Hello! My name is Alex Yoder. I’m an amateur film photographer based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I’ve been capturing memories on film for a little over 2 years now. I discovered photography in 2024 when I impulsively bought a digital point and shoot camera on the used market.

I used that camera for a little while before I saw a listing for a Pentax Spotmatic SP. I was amazed by the cameras build quality and felt drawn to the mechanical nature of the camera. Not knowing anything about film, I thought it’d be fun to try it out.

After shooting my first roll, I never looked back. I still own a digital camera for certain situations, but for the type of photography I enjoy, nothing beats film.

I love the way film captures memories, and how natural imperfections only heighten the experience. Light leaks, grain, and film’s distinct feel mirrors the way we remember: softly blurred, emotionally charged, and shaped by nostalgia.

I also love the nature of shooting film. It’s meditative to me. Film forces you to slow down, be intentional, and see the world through a different lens. I love that about it.

My photography is driven by an intense desire to capture people, places, moments, and memories. I’m passionate about making images and I’m excited to share them here!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I hope you enjoy!
